    About Resource Development


    Accion’s Resource Development team has a solid track record of fundraising results through both Institutional and individual giving. In the area of Individual Giving, the team has established itself by maintaining prospective development functions of the department, pursing individual donor opportunities, and strengthening relationships with these donors. The Resource Development Team provides expertise in grant-writing, events, retail fundraising and communications to ensure a highly effective approach in managing prospects within its portfolios.


    Position Summary 


    Accion is seeking a motivated, mission-driven Donor Engagement Specialist to develop and manage relationships with prospects and donors at the $1,000 to $5,000 gift levels.  In addition s/he will be primarily responsible for donor events sponsored by Accion’s Resource Development department. The Specialist will serve as a key member of the Individual Giving team, working closely with colleagues across the organization to contribute to the overall growth of Accion’s individual giving program, as well as Accion’s overall Resource Development goals.


    Design and implement engagement strategies for cultivation of leadership giving prospects/donors.

    • Develop and manage a portfolio of 100 prospects.
    • Create a pipeline of prospects who are capable of giving gifts of at least $1,000; develop a detailed plan for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding those prospects and donors.
    • Monitor annual giving donor activity to identify new $1K+ level prospects.
    • Facilitate the production of promotional collateral/materials (print and electronic) to promote the leadership giving level.

    Steward and cultivate relationships with current individual donors at levels of $1,000 -$5,000.

    • Track individual donors and progress towards goal of increasing base level of donors at this level.
    • Vertically integrate the $1K+ recognition level stewardship processes with both the annual fund and major gifts ($5K+) portfolios to promote seamless donor transition and upward movement.

    Build strong relationships with current and potential donors.

    • Regularly meet with existing donors to secure and renew $1K+ donors.
    • Schedule and staff prospect visits and events with key Accion staff and volunteers as needed.

    Explore the creation of a volunteer leadership committee for the $1K+ recognition society.


    Manage Accion donor events, including preparation of event agendas, invitation lists and briefing bios; coordinate follow-up with appropriate team members.


    • Generally 5 years of fundraising or relevant experience, with Bachelor’s Degree
    • Strategic and entrepreneurial thinker
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills
    • Acute attention to detail
    • Knowledge of marketing and soliciting leadership gifts
    • Volunteer management and event experience are expected
    • Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing social change
    • Proficiency with Raisers Edge or other fundraising software highly desirable
    • Travel and occasional evening and weekend work are required
