Position Overview:

The budget team at Accion manages and analyzes performance for Accion’s annual budget. This position is responsible for creating budget vs actual reports for projects. The analyst is primarily responsible for reporting and analyzing MasterCard funded projects and will assist in planning of the annual budget. This position works closely with Accounting, Resource Development, Human Resources, and Operations Departments.


  • Prepare financial reports for projects covered by MasterCard Foundation.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and collect back up documentation for expenses as required by the donor.
  • Coordinate annual budget process with project managers for the projects assigned.
  • Prepare reforecast for revenues and expenses for the MasterCard funded projects.
  • Organize and facilitate monthly meetings with project managers to discuss budget vs actuals and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate labor and expense reclass with accounting, as needed.
  • Provide support to project managers on preparation of new budgets as needed.
  • Assist with recognition of grants and contract revenues based on milestones and restrictions. Maintain proper documentation for external auditors.
  • Contribute project revenue and expense information to the Monthly Management Report
  • Follow up on invoicing with Accounts Receivable staff and review payments on grants and contracts for the projects assigned
  • Manage grant award process including creation of restricted grant cover sheet for review and circulation
  • Maintain documentation for processes and procedures related to Project Administration
  • Provide back-up support, as needed, for other department activities (e.g. A/R, A/P)
  • Support other special projects in the department


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Generally 2-3 years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Previous financial analysis, grant managements or non-profit accounting work a plus
  • Experience with Adaptive budget system and Deltek accounting system a plus
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with attention to financial and written detail
  • A willingness to "roll up one's sleeves" and do what is needed to get the job done
  • Superlative organizational skills: ability to manage complex projects from creation to completion, plan and prioritize multiple tasks, and coordinate to meet deadlines
