    About Resource Development

     

    Accion’s resource development has a solid track record of fundraising results largely generated through corporate and foundation donors including the MasterCard Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Credit Suisse, MetLife, and Citi Foundations. Over the last years, the organization has expanded its resource development strategies targeting more corporate partnerships and has begun focusing on public and multi-lateral institutions. The Resource Development Team includes fundraising professionals with expertise in grant-writing, events, retail fundraising and communications

     

    Position Overview:

     

    The summer intern will support both the Individual and the Institutional fundraising teams with general fundraising support. Duties will include database projects, acknowledgement letters, fundraising landscape peer research, event planning and marketing, among other tasks. The intern will help research profiles and prepare background briefings on individual and institutional donors, including corporations, foundations and public and multi-lateral agencies. Additionally, the intern will search through current volunteers groups (Accion Board of Directors and President’s Council, CFI Advisory Council) to help identify relationships with potential donors. The intern will participate in the day-to-day activities of the Resource Development department as well as participate in team and organization-wide meetings. This is a great opportunity for candidates interested in fundraising and event planning, as well as financial inclusion.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct biographical and financial research on donors and prospects utilizing in-house files and a variety of on-line, electronic, and printed sources
    • Gift processing and acknowledgement
    • Research and write research profiles and prepare background briefings
    • Identify and qualify new prospective donors capable of significant financial support
    • Maintain up-to-date central donor/prospect files
    • Database maintenance and clean up projects
    • Support for various fundraising and financial inclusion events
    • Additional assignments as directed by the supervisor

    Interaction:

    • Part of Resource Development Team
    • Coordinate research needs with the Executive Office
    • Work closely with members of the Resource Development team on all major donor and Institutional funder activities and strategy planning

    Qualifications

    • Availability: 20+ hours per week
    • Enthusiasm, willingness to learn required
    • Attention to detail and experience with online research and writing
    • Must be a student pursuing a Bachelor degree
    • Interest in financial inclusion and Accion's mission
