    The Smart Campaign works globally to create an environment in which financial services are delivered safely and responsibly to low-income clients. As the world’s first financial consumer protection standard, the Campaign maintains a rigorous certification program, elevates the client voice, and convenes partners to effect change at the national level. Nearly 100 financial institutions, collectively serving more than 41 million people, have been certified for adhering to the Campaign’s industry-accepted consumer protection standards.

     

    Position Summary 

     

    Smart Campaign seeks an Associate with 2+ years of full-time professional work experience to support our small but highly efficient team in the area of communications and operations.  He or she must be a self-starter, intellectually curious with awareness or interest in learning about topics relevant to the Smart Campaign, such as: client protection, financial inclusion and/or digital financial services. He or she must be well-organized, able to multi-task and prioritize, and possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. The position will report to the Global Operations Manager of the Smart Campaign.

     

    Smart Campaign provides a flexible learning environment based on the interest of the candidate (in communications, finance and/or international development). The positon offers opportunities to contribute to Smart Campaign’s technical research and new business development efforts. 

    Responsibilities

    COMMUNICATIONS:

    • Manage a social media plan and social media platforms (Blog, Facebook, Twitter) for the Campaign
    • Draft monthly newsletters and communication collateral for Campaign endorsers
    • Proactively seek out new and innovative ways to communicate with stakeholders (e.g. video, infographics)
    • Proactively update the Smart Campaign websites with relevant and up-to-date content. Draft monthly and quarterly reports to donors and board members. 
    • Support the formatting and graphic design of the Smart Campaign’s upcoming reports and publications.
    • Serve as the first line of contact for MFIs and other relevant stakeholders with questions about the Campaign and seeking more specific information about its different tools and programs
    • Represent the Smart Campaign at select communication events and relationships (e.g. Deutsche Bank certification case study)
    • As needed, contribute to the CFI blog on behalf of the Campaign; Maintain Campaign calendar and contribute to CFI Calendar on behalf of the Campaign
    • Create Smart Certificates for newly certified institutions
    • Promote Smart Campaign tools and resources to stakeholders
    • Manage the creation of literature/collateral on the Smart Campaign for events and promotional purposes
       

    OPERATIONS:

     

    • Maintain and improve key Smart Campaign performance “trackers” including, but not limited to trainings, events, tools and publications – proactively identify opportunities to improve the trackers.
    • Support a diverse team based in the United States, India and Africa by compiling weekly updates, coordinating with the Global Operations
    • Manager to plan monthly internal meetings, taking and maintaining meeting minutes and reports. Serve as the primary liaison with translation consultants – by managing translation, processing invoices and tracking overall budget.
    • Support Smart Campaign events through proactive planning and coordination of logistics.
    • Support senior management by conducting background research and synthesizing relevant research for future work with a focus on Africa.
    • Relationship manager for select projects in Latin America and the Caribbean
    • Support the accreditation of new certification bodies by conducting desk reviews of their practice
    • Support select research projects by conducting interviews with MFIs and clients and drafting reports

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Communications, Marketing or Business Administration or related field; 
    • A minimum of 2 years experience required; experience in communications, operations, or international development preferred
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task across numerous simultaneous projects, meet deadlines, process information quickly.
    • Dependable, well-organized, and detail-oriented.
    • Full fluency in a foreign language; Spanish is strongly preferred.  
    • Knowledge of CRM platforms (Sales Force), MailChimp and/or HTML coding preferred.
    • Deep interest in financial consumer protection, financial inclusion and in our mission.
    • Interested in our mission and working globally.
