    Title: Digital Financial Services Intern, Vendor Analysis

    Desired Start Date: September 26, 2018

    Duration: Minimum of 4 months (to be determined with the selected candidate)

    Internship Type: Unpaid

    Desired Time Commitment: 15- 20 hours per week

    Location: Washington, D.C.

      

    Position Summary:

     

    The Partnership for Responsible Financial Inclusion (PRFI) is looking for a self-motivated candidate with the capacity to conduct meaningful analysis and thrive in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate will have strong data science experience, excellent communication, data management and research skills. The candidate will lead the Digital Financial Service Peer Group’s vendor analysis project. This project aims to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of vendors and technology providers that offer business intelligence, mobile banking, biometric verification, and digital field applications services and operate in emerging markets. It is expected that the intern will be available for 15-20 hours per week. This position will report to the PRFI Digital Financial Services Peer Group Chair, Prateek Shrivastava.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • Assess the PRFI network’s desired selection criteria in terms of quality, cost and delivery speed
    • Develop a rating system to compare suppliers based on selection criteria
    • Conduct interviews with industry stakeholders to gather information on vendors they have engaged
    • Manage the data collection and synthesis required to effectively develop a key findings report and vendor analysis matrix tool

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Graduate student preferred, or undergraduate junior or senior with relevant experience
    • Working knowledge of IT platforms such as core banking systems, data warehouse/business intelligence systems, mobile banking systems, etc.
    • Experience with gathering high level requirements to support vendor decision making
    • Strong analytical skills desired
    • Excellent research and writing skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to effectively synthesize information
    • Ability to interact effectively and work with multi-cultural global teams and develop effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
    • Fluency in MS Office skills especially Excel and PowerPoint
    • Fluency in English required, proficiency in one other language highly desired
