    Accion’s Resource Development Program:

    Accion’s fundraising team has a solid track record of fundraising results largely generated through corporate and foundation donors including Mastercard, The MetLife Foundation, Citi Foundation, Credit Suisse, and The Mastercard Foundation, among others. Over the last years, the organization has expanded its resource development strategies targeting more corporate partnerships as well as focusing on public and multi-lateral institutions. The Resource Development Team includes 10 fundraising professionals with expertise in grant-writing, events management, retail fundraising, and communications. This position will report directly to the Deputy Chief Development Officer.

     

    Position Summary 

     

    Working across the Resource Development team and particularly closely with the Chief and Deputy Chief Development Officers and senior program staff from Accion's Center for Financial Inclusion, the Global Advisory Teams and Accion's Venture Lab, the Senior Manager will help plan and implement strategies to build and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners. H/she will support Accion’s efforts to engage new institutional partners through philanthropic grants, public support, contracts, and corporate sponsorships with the objective of generating one to two multi-million dollar grants per year and over $10 million in annual funding for Accion programs around the world. The Senior Manager will also help to support the growth and sustainability of existing high priority institutional partners, contributing towards the overall growth and development of Accion’s Institutional Partnerships and relationships across the organization.

     

    The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial inclusion and be familiar with industry stakeholders. The Senior Manager will be an exceptional advocate for financial inclusion and will be able to effectively communicate Accion’s efforts and programs to garner support and interest among the funding community. The Senior Manager will also be a team player, a consensus builder, and an internal champion to motivate staff across the organization to collaboratively contribute to building stronger institutional partnerships; allowing Accion to maximize its fundraising potential.

    Responsibilities

    • Working within the institutional partnerships team, support and refine activities to raise over $10 million in funding annually for Accion programs
    • Support the efforts to identify key partnerships, develop engagement strategies, and adapt as necessary based on changing relationships and organizational focus
    • Coordinate collaboration across programs, communications, executive office, and resource development around developing key relationships and maximizing fundraising and visibility opportunities
    • Prepare, execute, and manage short-term and long-term business development opportunities, analyze outcomes, and apply takeaways for future plans
    • Develop effective working relationships with program staff to expand and explore innovative ways to engage potential donors
    • Develop processes and tools (e.g. pipeline monitoring, action tracking, relationship mapping, reporting mechanisms, etc.)
    • Track current trends of financial inclusion key stakeholders and identify opportunities for engagement
    • Monitor, manage, and support proposal development and reporting for key partnerships
    • In collaboration with program teams, the executive office, and communications team, identify marketing and brand visibility opportunities for our partners
    • Support visibility and lead generation activities across the organization
    • Develop presentations and materials for meetings with key partners
    • Maintain strong engagement with partners through personalized interactions and reporting

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
    • Around 8 years relevant experience, minimum 5 years of experience managing key relationships and writing grant proposals
    • Extensive knowledge of the financial inclusion landscape and funding trends
    • Proven ability to identify, cultivate, solicit and close institutional gifts
    • Previous sales or negotiations experience a plus
    • Strong experience managing high level relationships with outstanding speaking and presentation skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to maximize teamwork and camaraderie across the organization
    • Proven superior writing and editing skills, including an ability to convey complex topics into language accessible by a donor
    • Meticulous in producing quality work within tight time constraints
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
    • Demonstrated capacity to take initiative and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong interpersonal and team skills
    • Ability to communicate with and coordinate efforts of culturally and geographically diverse staff to meet deadlines
