    We have been growing rapidly and are seeking to strengthen our capacity to deliver exciting new projects, such as the recently announced partnership between Mastercard and Accion to bring digitally enabled financial services to over 10 million micro businesses globally.


    Position Summary 


    The Accion Global Advisory Solutions team is seeking a Director, Digital Financial Products who is passionate about re-imagining the delivery of financial products to underserved customers in today’s digital society. The successful candidate will be tasked with spearheading the creation of innovative, scalable and fit-for-purpose financial products that respond to customer needs, such as credit and savings in emerging markets. The candidate should have experience working with and building financial products and should have significant exposure to and understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.


    The role will require you to be able to develop for our partners a digitally enabled product portfolio strategy and roadmap and for each prioritized product, develop the lifecycle from identifying user needs, planning the business case to creating products and services that are valuable, usable and feasible. You will need to distill, document and bring to fruition a digitally enabled financial services product vision using the latest and best practices across product planning, customer centricity and product development. Specifically, the incumbent will be required to:


    • Consult with client’s business partners on key product features and the impact to business lines, operations and technical infrastructure based on prior experience.
    • Develop integrated product definition – from user experience through to reporting and compliance and lead the consulting team’s work with our partners’ product development teams.
    • Conduct market and competitor analysis to assess market need and ensure products are competitive.
    • Develop the go-to-market strategy for the product, working with key subject matter experts on for example Risk Models and Scorecards and Credit Methodology.
    • Lead the definition of product features and associated business requirements, using iterative product development techniques.
    • Ensure the product design is scalable both operationally and technologically.
    • Work with the technology team to understand the impact of the product design and its functionality on the banking platforms and supporting infrastructure.
    • Work with the partner organization’s marketing team to develop appropriate marketing techniques. Recommend changes to marketing models in the partner organization.
    • Build product business cases and models to determine the feasibility of product ideas, including key performance indicators and other objective metrics.
    • Influence stakeholders through ongoing communication and advocacy to build cross-functional buy-in and commitment to a shared product vision.


    In addition, support Accion Global Advisory Solutions’ business development efforts by:

    • Developing proposals for agreed projects for donors, investee-portfolio clients and non-investee clients.
    • Representing Accion Global Advisory Solutions team at events through speaking engagements, in line with GLAS Industry Engagement strategy to ensure business development opportunities are being identified and followed through.


    Experience Required:

    • 7-10 years of professional experience (ideally within Consumer Financial Services) with 3-5 years focused on Marketing and Product Development.
    • Previous work experience at a digital banking, digital financial services or a fintech.
    • Demonstrated success working on B2C products.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Passion towards social sector and keenness towards technology-enabled business models.
    • Expert on leveraging design thinking and other modern forms of product planning, customer discovery, product-discovery, product development process and execution 
    • Strong analytical, business, project management, and organizational skills 
    • Entrepreneurial and commercially minded, highly creative, and able to innovate quickly 
    • Passion for data, testing, and building a world-class customer experience
    • Have an innovative mind-set and fresh perspective to the design and development of new and existing business models to support clients in achieving break-through results.
    • Excellent multi-tasking skills with a positive, can-do attitude and an approach of “no job is too small or big”.
    • Ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions. 
    • Ability to study and quickly understand business processes, team dynamics and customer needs.
    • Team player and ability to work in semi/un-structured environment
    • Openness to new ideas and willingness to take risks
    • Willingness to learn the developments in fintech and financial inclusion domain
    • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (30-40%)
    • Ability to create visually appealing presentations.
    • Excellent project and people skills, especially in multi-cultural environments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in English. Spanish and/or French a bonus.
    • MBA or equivalent Master’s level degree desired.
