    Accion’s Global Advisory Solutions (GLAS) team provides experienced operational and management support to help build sustainable and scalable companies focused on serving the financial needs of underserved individuals and small businesses.  We strengthen our partners and maximize their impact by leveraging innovations in technology and financial services to lower costs and increase quality at scale.

     

    GLAS is a global team of advisors with hands on experience and deep technical and managerial expertise in building and supporting a range of financial service providers (FSPs).  We work with organizations in emerging markets across Latin America, Africa and Asia to help them plan, implement, scale and enhance technologies and business models that can reduce bottlenecks to and catalyze the growth of financial services.  In addition to our advisory work with FSPs, we contribute to industry development through case study work and research, knowledge sharing, as well as training and capacity building activities.

     

     

    Position Summary 

     

    Accion is looking for a Manager Digital Strategy to be part of Accion’s Global Advisory Solutions (GLAS) Latin America team, and take an active role in the region projects requiring a relevant Digital Transformation and/or Digital Strategy component. Based in Bogota, Colombia, S/he will play an essential role to represent Accion as an advisor to our clients, build client relationships and provide technical expertise in the design and implementation of digitally distributed, data driven, customer-centered financial products and services. Working as part of a global, cross-functional team, s/he will lead end to end digital strategy definition and deployment through implementation to support the customer growth strategies of our clients. The Digital Strategy Manager will need to have a deep understanding of customer financial service needs and how technologies and other factors influence their perspectives, experience and decision making. Accion is seeking for someone creative, dynamic and analytical, a person who believes in the power of technology to transform the way people interact with financial services.

    Responsibilities

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

     

    Reporting to the Vice-President, Latin America Program Management, and collaborating closely with the global team, the Digital Strategy Manager will play an important role at Accion in helping further financial inclusion by working with the team leading the strategy and growth of our key partners’ digital transformation work. The responsibilities of this position include:

     

    • Advisory project support: Member of team involved in the end-to end delivery of digital strategies and solutions to partner FSPs with key subject matter suggestions.

      • Be part of a team providing strategic advice to Global Advisory Solutions’ partners to design and improve internal processes to leverage technology as an enabler for widespread adoption.
      • Support the creation and execution of pre-implementation plans which include development of business requirements, detailed functional requirements, review of change management business impact, human resources and risks.
      • Work along with the advisory team to design strategies to increase digital adoption.
      • Support partners with defining digital strategy using Accion’s established toolkits (workshop facilitating / design thinking /co-creation /agile MVP development).
      • Support the implementation of digital solutions to ensure seamless integration into the business (processes, systems, people, etc.).
      • Assist Global Advisory Solutions’ partners in the due diligence and selection process for digital/technology providers, fintech partnerships, policies and processes to ensure they are preparing their infrastructure and resources to support the business operations to face a digital strategy/transformation deployment.
      • Provide technical expertise in the digital strategy definition and deployment, implementation of digitally distributed, data driven, customer-centered financial products and services for low income populations.
      • Support the assessment of a post-implementation review and lead on any findings / recommendations of the same.
      • Work along with the advisory team to build business cases supporting strategy definition.
      • Actively participate along with the team in the creation of business models for products and services to be deployed in Latin America, especially focused on digital transformation and digital financial services.
    • Project management and documentation
      • Document and share project results (activities, findings, outputs, impact) in the form of sharing knowledge, disseminating useful information & tools, and organizing and delivering learning and exchange opportunities, blogging, articles and/or case studies completed for internal learning and external sector-wide knowledge sharing purposes. Collaborate with Accion’s Communications department.
      • Communicate project progress, keeping team members and project manager updated throughout all stages.
    • Business development support
      • Support regional management teams in Latin America with business development activities such as proposal writing, creating project plans and ensuring contractual agreements for advisory services.
      • Support Accion’s investment functions with activities including desk research, competitor analysis and business model analysis on an as-needed basis.

    • Build Accion Global Advisory Solutions Capacity
      • Work with colleagues, look for linkages where our partners could potentially leverage new innovative models and technologies and benefit from new partner collaborations.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Requirements:

     

    • Demonstrated commitment to Accion’s values of excellence, respect and passion for social change.
    • Creative, dynamic and analytical, a person who believes in the power of technology to transform the way people interact with financial services.
    • Typically 8 years of relevant work experience.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., industrial engineering, systems, computer science), master’s degree preferred.
    • Clear understanding of financial inclusion concepts and challenges for Latin America and worldwide.
    • Must have excellent knowledge of current trends in digital financial services as well as hands-on experience of one or more of the following: mobile money, digital payments, digital lending, human centered design for financial services, mobile banking, POS/card payments, agent banking, fintech for financial inclusion.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Spanish and English fluency required.
    • Ability to act as a business technology liaison.
    • Business, project management, and very strong analytical skills across strategy, finance, consumer adoption and especially new channels and technology, but must also have experience planning and implementing.
    • Experience with data driven solutions, machine learning, IA, IoT, and other industry trends is a plus.
    • Entrepreneurially minded; ability to work independently and proactively, and as a part of a highly collaborative team; quick learner; receptive and responsive to feedback.
    • Excellent multi-tasking skills with a positive, can-do attitude and an approach of “no job is too small or big”.
    • Ability to travel 30% to 40% regionally and international.
