    Position Summary 

     

    The Accion Global Advisory Solutions team is seeking a Senior Director, Digital Transformation in Latin America, who is passionate about re-imagining the delivery of financial products to underserved customers in today’s digital society. The successful candidate will play a leadership role in driving the digital transformation of leading FSPs in Latin America in close partnership with senior management teams within these institutions.  This will entail taking a lead in the conceptualization, design and consequent implementation of innovative, scalable and fit-for-purpose financial products that respond to customer needs, such as credit and savings in emerging markets. The incumbent will work with key partners in the region, specifically Bolivia and/or Peru, whilst providing support across the region where required.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

     

    The role will require you to be able to take the lead on scoping the extent of digital transformation of the FSP and defining the specific steps to achieve the desired result of reaching the customer with digitally delivered financial services. In close collaboration with FSP senior management teams, the scope of influence on the FSP includes the creation of digital strategy, a digitally enabled product roadmap and for each prioritized product, work with a cross-functional team to develop the product lifecycle from identifying user needs, planning the business case to creating products and services that are valuable, usable and feasible. Specifically, the incumbent will be required to:

     

    Partner Strategy & Engagement

    • Engage with boards and senior managers of leading FSPs in Latin America to develop vision and scope for multi-year digital transformation initiative.  
    • Support partners with defining digital strategy using Accion’s established toolkits based on design thinking.
    • Ensure alignment with bank partner management teams and Boards with implementation approaches and plans. Influence stakeholders through ongoing communication and advocacy to build cross-functional buy-in and commitment to a shared transformation vision.

     

    Project Management

    • Develop integrated transformation projects – from conceptualization of the transformation plan based on the business and technology strategy through to ownership of implementation of the agreed transformation.
    • Develop pre-implementation plans which include development of business requirements, detailed functional requirements, review of change management business impact, human resources and risks.
    • Ensure the transformation project is effectively managed, and that local FSP partner teams are properly staffed and that adequate reporting and oversight controls are in place.
    • Ensure that projects deliver change through the business, and are ‘owned’ by the business, not seen as something ‘done’ by IT – ensuring that partners have the appropriate resources in place will be key.
    • Source and manage external consultants and manage related budgets.
    • Document and share project results (activities, findings, outputs, impact) in the form of sharing knowledge, disseminating useful information & tools, and organizing and delivering learning and exchange opportunities, blogging, articles and/or case studies completed for internal learning and external sector-wide knowledge sharing purposes. Collaborate with Accion’s Communications department.

     

    Advisory Support

    • Leading the implementation of digital solutions to ensure seamless integration into the business (processes, systems, people, etc.).
    • Designing and improving internal processes to leverage technology as an enabler for widespread adoption.
    • Supporting the creation of business models for products and services to be deployed in Latin America, especially focused on digital transformation and digital financial services.
    • Oversee partner assessments of IT staff, policies and procedures to ensure they are equipped to support the business operations from an IT perspective.
    • Oversee the implementation of all major FSP partner systems and participate in issue-resolution decisions, vendor management, and regular update communication to all stakeholders.
    • Work together with FSP partners and Accion team on FSP partner systems’ budgets and funding, ensuring that partner sufficiently budgets the costs of technology projects and support
    • Oversee the assessment of a post-implementation review and lead on any findings / recommendations.
    • Working with colleagues, look for linkages where our partners could potentially leverage new innovative models and technologies and benefit from new partner collaborations.
    • Serve as subject matter expert in technology-led models for digital transformation of FSPs.

     

    In addition, support Accion Global Advisory Solutions’ business development efforts by:

    • Developing proposals for agreed projects for donors, investee-portfolio clients and non-investee clients.
    • Representing Accion Global Advisory Solutions team at events through speaking engagements, in line with GLAS Industry Engagement strategy to ensure business development opportunities are being identified and followed through.

     

    Experience Required:

    • Must have 10-15 years’ relevant experience through a combination of consulting/advisory services in financial services, especially through digital models.
    • Demonstrated ability to build transformation strategies, and hands-on operating experience in challenging contexts.
    • Must have excellent knowledge of and expertise in digital financial services as well as hands-on knowledge of one or more of the following: mobile money, digital payments, mobile banking, electronic payments (issuance and acceptance), agent banking.
    • Candidates must have very strong analytical skills across strategy, finance, consumer adoption and especially new channels and technology, but must also have experience planning and implementing.
    • Previous work experience at a digital banking, digital financial services, digital platforms involving payments, or a fintech in a senior leadership role.
    • Demonstrated success working on B2C and B2B products.

    • Ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions. 
    • Ability to study and quickly understand business processes, team dynamics and customer needs.
    • Team player and ability to work in semi/un-structured environment
    • Willingness to learn the developments in fintech and financial inclusion domain
    • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (30-40%)
    • Ability to create visually appealing presentations.
    • Excellent project and people skills, especially in multi-cultural environments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in Spanish. Fluency in Business English required.
    • MBA or equivalent Master’s level degree required.
