    Position Summary:

     

    As part of renewed communications and brand strategy, recently we launched new best-in-class websites with fit-for-purpose digital publishing and user analytics. Now, we seek a Director of Digital Communications to work across our teams and with external partners to ensure that Accion’s digital strategy includes a well-thought-out cadence and approach to the sights, sounds and words that will inspire and inform key audiences about the work of Accion and our global network of partners.

     

    This role is based in Washington DC with occasional international travel and reports to Accion’s Chief Communications Officer.

    Responsibilities

     

    • STRATEGY: Develop, implement, and oversee digital communications, in alignment with overall communications strategy and in coordination with global and US colleagues.
    • WEB: Oversee accion.org and play a leadership role in guiding the enterprise on all external-facing website products and governance, especially with our new web platform.
    • SOCIAL MEDIA: Oversee social media content creation and owned channel management, currently Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram. Articulate and implement an innovation approach to further move Accion to the leading edge of social cause and financial social media practices.
    • MULTIMEDIA: Oversee multimedia, photo and video products and processes.
    • FUNDRAISING: Ensure digital initiatives and efforts support resource development objectives, especially corporate funders and the acquisition and retention of individual donors.
    • MANAGEMENT: Manage a small digital team and vendors, consultants budget related to digital communications. Set Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and work plan targets for growing our digital audiences.
    • RESOURCE: Act as a resource for subject matter experts; coordinate cross-team efforts to foster substantive and compelling digital content.
    • SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT: Provide counsel, guidance, training and/or strategies to management on matters relating to digital communications.

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Strong working knowledge of digital communications.
    • At least 8+ years of relevant work experience; background in international development and experience in developing countries preferred.
    • Experience managing a digital platform project a plus.
    • Experience in writing, editing, proofreading, and oral communications: overseeing or directly writing, editing and producing digital content.
    • Experience managing corporate communications activities, preferably in financial inclusion, fintech, or a related sector.
    • Experience overseeing and adhering to budget requirements.
    • Experience comprehending complex information and translating it into accessible language.
    • English language fluency required; Spanish language fluency preferred.
