    The Project Associate is a temporary assignment. This position will work within a team led by the Senior Director of Research. The candidate will be responsible for organizing the 2020 HBS-Accion Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance, in addition to supporting Financial Inclusion Week among other responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    Key Areas of Responsibility

     

    PROJECT SUPPORT: The candidate will serve as the program coordinator for the HBS-Accion Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance, the first executive education program of its kind to provide high-level management and leadership training to those shaping the microfinance industry, including CEOs of leading microfinance institutions and executives of mainstream banks entering the microfinance market.

     

    Specific responsibilities include:  

    • Process all incoming program applications; manage acceptances and payments processing:
    • Maintain all application details in database
    • Confirm receipt of all applications and manage all program inquiries from applicants
    • Maintain list of accepted/rejected/waitlisted participants
    • Track program acceptances and fill free spaces as necessary
    • Track deposits and payments for program
    • Work with HBS Executive Education team to ensure that necessary visa letters are sent out in a timely fashion
    • Support distribution of scholarships:
    • Process scholarship applications 
    • Work with the finance department to generate and amend invoices
    • Manage communications with scholarship recipients
    • Pre-program preparations:
    • Maintain an up-to-date status of final participants
    • Compile database of program participants’ demographics
    • Work with HBS Executive Education team to finalize pre-program preparations

     

    COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH: The position supports communications and research dissemination efforts for Financial Inclusion Week, CFI’s annual decentralized “conference,” and the CFI Research Fellows Program, which includes stakeholder engagement, graphic design and in-person and virtual event planning and promotion, often in coordination with the CFI communications team.

    In addition, the position will also support the Senior Director of Research and other CFI staff to ensure that the CFI Research Fellows have what they need to succeed and are on-track to complete their work on time, helping to bring project deliverables and final reports to completion.

    Qualifications

    • Availability of 35 hours a week through the end of April 2020
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., international relations, international development, or economics) required; Masters degree a plus
    • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills; ability to work across cultures and correspond with HBS-Accion Program applicants in a professional manner
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-oriented
    • Excellent writing and editing skills (from blog posts to concept notes) with a track-record of producing high-quality content for a variety of contexts
    • Self-starter; equally effective working independently and as part of a team
    • Professional-level fluency in English required; fluency or professional proficiency in Spanish or French preferred
    • Familiarity with events management, graphic design software, cloud-based file management, and CRM systems preferred
