    Program Overview:

     

    The Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion is seeking a Director for its soon-to-be launched Board Leadership for Impact (BLI) program. The BLI program will be a unique peer-to-peer learning and exchange program to ensure lasting behavioral change—with a focus on key strategic leadership challenges and risks, particularly those associated with digital financial services. BLI will build on CFI’s highly successful Africa Board Fellowship (ABF) with more opportunities for virtual connections; deeper advisory engagement with institutions; content relevant to fintech and other providers beyond microfinance institutions (MFIs); and ongoing annual seminars focused on the pressing issues relevant to boards and senior management. In addition to strengthening efforts in Africa, this initiative will bring the program to Asia.

     

    The Position:

     

    We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious individual with a passion for financial inclusion, as well as an interest in social investing, and corporate governance. The ideal candidate will have strong business and financial management skills, as well as operations and relationship development. The Program Director will provide strong project and team management, balancing the competing requirements of multiple priorities to ensure that: high-quality work is produced, deadlines are met, staffing appropriately meets workflow, funding is sufficient, partnerships are developed and maintained, complex budgets are well managed, and that staff are provided with direction, motivation and feedback.

    Qualifications

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

     

    Business Management: Ensure staff work plans are well coordinated with the financial and personnel resources needed to meet tight timelines with high-quality work. Coordinate and lead concurrent projects including revenue generation from tuition, monthly budget tracking, regular staff meetings, partnership coordination, and forward planning.

     

    • Team Management: Manage Marketing and BLI Portal Manager and 2-4 consultants, providing direction on projects, insights on professional development, performance and feedback.
    • Communications: Direct the BLI communications plan in particular the online and social media recruiting activities for BLI programs. 
    • Content Development: Oversee the overall content developed for BLI and new projects including agendas, cases, tools, speaker presentations, role plays, videos, etc.
    • Fundraising: Support Resource Development in fundraising for programmatic activities such as a scholarship pool.
    • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate effective knowledge sharing of BLI experience and learnings across a multitude of departments, partners and key stakeholders.
    • Relationship Management: Build and manage relationships with a large, diverse, group of stakeholders including internal partners, external consultants, ABF alumni, funders and key industry stakeholders.
    • Industry Representation: Represent BLI at industry conferences and events, participating actively in both in-person and virtual roundtables, speaking engagements, and presentations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Essential skills and experience:

    • Driven, self-starter with a positive attitude motivated by introducing a new business model to CFI/Accion.
    • Demonstrated knowledge in financial inclusion, financial modeling, risk management and strategic planning
    • Strong business and financial management skills
    • Generally, 10 years’ work experience with 4-6 years of financial management experience with for-profit business models
    • Strong interpersonal and people management skills including an international team
    • Exceptional project management skills
    • Familiarity working around the world, working on the ground in Asia, Africa, Latin America preferred
    • Flexibility to commit to long distance travel as needed to support a non-US-based program itinerary
    • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, experience with proposal writing and fundraising.
    • Proficiency in other languages not required but would be a plus
    • Interested in our mission and working globally.
