    We seek a Director, Industry Engagement, to help tell our story and catalyze the sector.


    The Director, Industry Engagement will amplify the scale of our efforts to share demonstration models we are seeing in the industry and develop new business.  Reporting to the Managing Director of Global Advisory Solutions, working closely with the VP of Business Development, and as a member of the Extended Communications Team, the Director, Industry Engagement will lead our team’s efforts to identify, analyze, and articulate lessons and demonstration models from advisory engagements with innovative companies.  She/he will leverage digital/social media to share knowledge; organize events and speaking engagements to build a network and influence the sector; and activate campaigns that promote and amplify thought leadership activities— further positioning Accion as a thought leader and partner of choice. 


    1. Strategic direction (25%). Set the direction of Global Advisory Solution’s industry engagement function, in collaboration with the Advisory product owners and team. This includes prioritizing topics within Accion’s current advisory projects to showcase, advocating for industry engagement within the team and for Global Advisory Solutions with communications.  Aligned with Accion’s communications team and strategy, outline an engagement plan to reach key external stakeholders: financial service providers, corporations, donors, and other industry players. 
    1. Content development (45%). Research and develop materials that capture Global Advisory Solution’s learnings, experiences, and intellectual capital through the creation of a variety of thought leadership pieces such as lessons learned briefs, blogs, infographics, case studies, webinars, and social media. Support other team members as needed to contribute to the team’s thought leadership. Lead story framing, analysis, writing, as well as publication and dissemination. Ensure that the content and team is well represented across Accion’s external platforms, including Accion’s blog, LinkedIn, newsletters, conferences and events.  
    1. Events (20%). Organize and seek speaking opportunities for team members at industry convenings around relevant priority topics, to share our insights, influence, generate business, and access expertise. Attend conferences and events that are priority for Global Advisory Solutions.
    1. Other (10%): Support initiatives within the Global Advisory Solutions team as needed such as content management, business development, proposal writing, and contributing to advisory services delivery


    • Experience organizing, promoting, and overseeing small events
    • Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships that foster communication and collaboration, as well as interact effectively with technical and creative disciplines
    • Track record of building effective relationships with stakeholders and decision makers, including the ability to articulate process and idea recommendations in a way that gains buy-in and support for implementation
    • Excellent storytelling, research, written, and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent project management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, motivate others and meet deadlines;
    • Experience living or working in emerging markets preferred
    • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and passion for market-based solutions to poverty
    • Comfortable working with senior staff and advocating for a specific point of view
    • Knowledge of current trends in financial inclusion and digital financial services preferred
    • Successful candidate will typically have 10 years work experience, with a minimum of 5 years of thought leadership content development and writing experience, preferably in financial services.

    • Spanish fluency preferred
    • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
