    Position Summary 


    Accion Global Investments seeks an Investment Analyst with a proven track record supporting the growth of portfolio companies in financial services and other relevant industries. The individual will proactively assist the team’s investment officers with their portfolio management functions and will support the development of pipeline investment opportunities. The Investment Analyst will also play a key role on Accion’s internal audit team around the creation of portfolio company valuations and will lead the drafting of audit memos. As such, both strong writing ability in English as well as direct, prior work experience creating valuations is essential to this role.



    As a core Global Investments team member, the Investment Analyst will be responsible for executing a range of key functions:

    • Perform analysis of Accion portfolio companies with guidance from investment officers and portfolio manager
    • Assist the Global Investment Portfolio Manager in analyzing trends in portfolio company performance
    • Actively monitor macroeconomic trends as well as political and industry developments in markets in which Accion Global Investments has investments; disseminate this information to team members in a timely manner
    • Assist investment officers in liaising with management at portfolio companies and in providing strategic support to portfolio companies as needed
    • Create summaries of the performance and outlook of potential pipeline companies to help triage pipeline opportunities
    • Lead drafting of audit memos for Accion portfolio companies
    • Independently build three statement valuation models for portfolio companies and be able to substantiate and explain to auditors all model assumptions and sensitivities; individual should be able to error-check her or his own financial models
    • Independently source information on comparable companies and precedent transactions to create holistic valuations using multiple valuation methodologies
    • Respond to questions from Accion's auditors related to audit memos and underlying valuation models 

    The ideal candidate will have work experience in investment banking, private equity or in a corporate finance role at the portfolio company level. He or she should also have direct working experience in emerging markets, particularly in India, and should have a solid understanding of the financial services sectors in India and other emerging markets in South or Southeast Asia at a minimum. Familiarity with markets in Africa and Latin America where Accion Global Investments has investments is a plus. The Investment Analyst should also have experience analyzing the historic performance and growth prospects of financial services providers.




    • Proven track record in financial analysis and in supporting the growth of portfolio companies in financial services / financial inclusion
    • Generally 2-3 years of relevant post-college work experience, with significant time spent working in emerging markets and financial services
    • Experience working with senior management at portfolio companies in financial services
    • Experience in developing executive presentations and communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required, other languages, particularly Spanish, a plus
    • Strong attention to delivery and follow-through
    • Ability to work independently while also keeping supervisor and teammates informed of progress
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple initiatives at one time
    • Pragmatic problem-solver, forward thinker with independence of thought
