    We are seeking a motivated candidate to join our Finance team as a Budget Specialist. The Budget Specialist is responsible for managing and analyzing performance for the Accion annual budget and assists in planning and coordinating the process for the preparation of the annual budget for Accion’s various projects in India, China, Africa and Latin America. This position will work collaboratively across the organization and will work closely with Resource Development, Human Resources, International Operations as well as the Controller and CFO.



    • Reviews, analyzes, and reports project and departmental/regional budgets, revenues, expenditures and variances for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds, and/or ensuring overall operations are within budget.
    • Organize and lead monthly meetings with Resource Development, project and program managers to discuss budget vs actuals.
    • Evaluates and prepares re-forecasting for revenues and expenditures and makes adjustments and recommendations if necessary.
    • Reviews budgets for new proposals to ensure billing rates for staff and travel costs are accurate.
    • Satisfies grants and contracts revenues based on restrictions or milestones. Works with external auditors on grant and contracts revenue recognition per GAAP.
    • Prepare periodic financial reports to donors
    • Coordinates annual budget process with project, department and hub managers.
    • As needed, follow up on contract invoicing with Accounts Receivable staff.
    • Contribute project revenue and expense information to the Monthly Management Report.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.



    • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on Finance, Public Finance, Business or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance with extensive focus in budgeting and financial projection management.
    • Advanced level in Excel (e.g. pivot tables) and other MS Office applications.
    • Expertise and strong knowledge of Adaptive budget system.
    • Strong multi company budget planning, analysis, and project management skills.
    • Background with nonprofit budgeting and accounting or Deltek accounting system is a plus.
    • Sound problem solving ability.
    • Achieves goals with minimal ongoing supervision.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment in making planning decisions and maintaining confidentiality.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization. Spanish language skills a plus.
    • Ability to effectively manage the workload working independently including planning, organizing, prioritizing, and paying close attention to details.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
