Position Summary 


Accion seeks a Digital Communications Coordinator to support our engagement and content efforts across our web and social media.


The Digital Communications Coordinator plays a key role in keeping our digital communications efforts on track and smoothly functioning across a diverse set of staff located around the world. As we work to raise Accion’s profile in the fields of impact investing, financial inclusion and fintech, this position will work across our team and with external partners to ensure that Accion’s digital strategy is executed in a high-quality and dynamic way. 


The ideal candidate may be just starting out in their career, eager to learn more about strategic communications for a global organization focused on startups, financial technology, and international development.


The position will report to the Director of Digital Communications and is based in Washington DC.


1.  Project Coordination

  • Maintain distribution plans, including website updates, press releases, sharing information with external parties, ensuring blogs are drafted (social media content)
  • Manage and track event communications, including tracking the completion of digital contract requirements
  • Support testing and coordination for website projects


2.  Digital Content Production 

  • Create digital graphics for Accion website, emails and social media
  • Monitor and report on website, blog, and social media analytics
  • Update the external Accion website: post copy edits, upload photography, press releases, and news
  • Update the communications page on the Accion intranet – collect information, make updates as needed
  • Assist with blog and social media writing


3.  Operations 

  • Maintain multimedia library, update the quarterly board report
  • Track and index multimedia collection
  • Maintain organizational presentations and communications strategy presentation on a quarterly basis; this includes, but is not limited to tracking department achievements as well as any organizational quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ensure invoices are coded properly and distributed to the appropriate approver
  • Take and distribute notes in the extended communications meeting
  • Maintain team calendar


4.  Other duties as appropriate.


  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of digital analytics and insights
  • International development or financial services industry background preferred
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, Wordpress / Drupal CMS, analytics for Facebook and Google. HTML/CSS an advantage.
