Overview

Program Overview and Strategic Role

 

Accion’s Global Advisory Solutions team is seeking a mid-level UI/UX designer consultant to be responsible for creative ideas in the design and user experience for web and digital media applications of Ovante, a product of our Customer Engagement work at Accion. Ovante is a digital platform designed to strengthen microentrepreneurs’ management, financial and digital capabilities by incentivizing actual behavior change, in order to help them thrive in a competitive and digital world. Ovante goes beyond financial education, supporting entrepreneurs and financial service providers to better navigate the transition to digital, and building entrepreneurs’ capacities around budgeting, social media marketing, credit management, time management, and other capabilities crucial to running and growing micro and small businesses.

 

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience, can show a compelling portfolio of user experience and user interface designs, and has demonstrated experience conducting user research (e.g. prototype testing). We value candidates who have experience designing for digital learning, behavior change, and have worked on projects focused on people with lower levels of digital literacy.

 

S/he will thrive in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills, an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. This individual should have a passion for researching, understanding and defining the needs and behaviors of customers. S/he will also work with the lead designer, technology team and key stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into exceptional designs that serve the needs of our clients.

Responsibilities

Consultant Role, Key Activities & Deliverables

 

The designer consultant will play an important role on the project in helping further financial inclusion by realizing the design strategy and vision of our digital customer engagement work. The responsibilities of this position include:

 

  • Using a customer-centric, iterative design process, drive the execution and delivery of successful product designs.
  • Design elegant & concrete visuals (mobile, desktop, digital & print) and UX / UI of Ovante. This includes:
    • Understanding the product vision, objectives, value proposition and KPIs and converting these into visual design for tech development
    • Identifying areas for UX / UI improvement in the existing design framework
  • Work closely with the Lead Designer to ensure that designs are appropriate and of a high quality.
  • Work closely with the Ovante team, and technology vendors throughout the product life cycle to ensure designs are addressing both user and business needs, are feasible to implement, and are subsequently implemented accurately.
  • In partnership with the Lead Designer, support all UI/UX efforts, setting design direction, driving discussion and activities, while participating in research, testing, delivery, planning, and coordination efforts.
  • Create high quality deliverables based on UX goals and priorities, including wireframes followed by production-ready final assets.
  • Incorporate Accion & Ovante branding, brand guidelines and help ensure all communications stay on-brand and on-trend.
  • Foster the use of established UI/UX techniques, templates, presentations, and assets through best practices covering research, analysis, tools, and materials.
  • Possess a strong culture of user testing. Ensure seamless user experience to effectively engage clients and scale the product.
  • Communicating design progress, keeping team members and key stakeholders updated.

 

The Consultant can work remotely, preferably in Latam or Inda, working closely with the Global Advisory Solutions (GLAS) team members and various vendors in the country and other parts of the region, if required,  to support the successful execution of all program related activities. 

Qualifications

Experience Required:

 

  • 5 years of experience in UX / UI / HCD design for digital products (Please provide a link to professional portfolio). Design experience within financial services in emerging markets a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area (Art, Design, Information Architecture, or User Experience)., Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in successfully creating UX / UI of digital products and online platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of UX / UI / HCD lifecycle with experience defining user experience, interaction design, visual design and user research.
  • Experience using relevant design and prototyping tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Marvel, InVision),
  • Good knowledge of typography, iconography, colour, space, and a deep understanding of composition, balance, symmetry & whitespace.
  • Ability to collaborate with Ovante’s vendors / technology team.
  • Possess creative and strategic mindset with an eye for useful, usable and appealing design;
  • Experience providing oversight of a large product, program, or simultaneously coordinating multiple smaller initiatives and teams.
  • Experience working on complex digital products, and an ability to work on both bigger-picture design problems as well as detailed feature-level solutions.

  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to use different styles to influence individuals and groups and cause impact.
  • Exceptional written, communication and presentation skills for a variety of audiences; comfort moving seamlessly between executive teams and the field.
  • English fluency required, Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Excellent project and people skills, especially in multi-cultural environments.
