One way we do that is by supporting early-stage startups that often lack access to the capital and support they need to grow. Accion Venture Lab is an impact investing fund that invests in and supports seed-stage fintech startups, catalyzing innovation in inclusive fintech and improving the way financial services are delivered to underserved consumer and small businesses around the world. Venture Lab focuses on companies that are post-R&D but have not yet proven their concept or achieved meaningful revenue traction, filling the support void for seed-stage companies. Investing since 2012 and backed by third party commercial and impact investors since the launch of our fund in 2019, Venture Lab focuses on investment opportunities in the US, Latin America, Africa, South and Southeast Asia but remains globally opportunistic, leveraging Accion’s global footprint and 50-year experience investing in and building financial services businesses in emerging markets. In addition to financial support, Venture Lab provides strategic and operational support to its investees.
The Institutional Partnerships Senior Manager will play a critical and strategic fundraising role and will be an integral part of the Venture Lab team. The Senior Manager will develop deep knowledge and understanding of all Venture Lab programs, partners, and initiatives and will possess a strong understanding of financial services and financial inclusion. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and have exceptional communication skills to influence funders and drive support for Venture Lab’s work. S/he will help lead the strategic direction of Venture Lab fundraising and play a key role in managing institutional partner relations with both philanthropic organizations as well as current and prospective LPs into the fund. The Senior Manager will be able to adeptly draft concept notes and proposals and work in parallel with the Resource Development team in generating funding opportunities, speaking with potential funders, conducting market research, and exploring new partnership opportunities. The position will have a dual reporting structure – reporting to the Managing Director of the Venture Lab team and to Accion’s Chief Development Officer. The Senior Manager will work both independently and collaboratively and will contribute to the overall growth of Venture Lab fundraising targets to drive new partnerships, opportunities, and revenue.
