Global Advisory Solutions (GLAS) is looking for a Digital Products & Transformation (MEA) who will report to the Director, Vice President, Program Management Middle East and Africa for the Global Advisory Solutions (GLAS) team and be a key part of the regional advisory team leading digital transformation engagements and spearheading the creation of innovative, digitally-enabled and fit-for-purpose financial services.  Ideally based in Lagos, Nairobi or Cairo (other regional locations considered), the incumbent will develop strategies for, and lead the implementation of complex transformation engagements for financial service providers (FSPs); conceptualizing, designing and rolling out digital lending and other solutions for underserved customer segments.

Position responsibilities

This position will require you to take the lead in scoping the extent of digital transformation of the FSP and defining the specific steps to achieve the desired result of reaching the customer with digitally delivered financial services.


Specifically, the incumbent will be required to:


Lead product development, particularly digital lending products - consult with client’s business partners on key product features and the impact to business lines, operations and technical infrastructure based on prior experience, and lead the definition of compelling digital lending or other products, along with the business case, competitive positioning and go-to-market strategy. Ensure the product design is scalable both operationally and technologically; influence stakeholders through ongoing communication and advocacy to build cross-functional buy-in and commitment to a shared product vision. 


Drive partner strategy & engagement - provide strategic advisory support to partners in defining their digital strategy using Accion’s established toolkits based on design thinking; engage with boards and senior managers of client institutions to develop the vision and scope for multi-year digital transformation initiatives; effectively manage relationships, ensuring alignment with client management teams and Boards with implementation approaches and plans.


Provide advisory support to financial institutions on digital lending/product strategy and digital transformation - support the creation of business models for products and services to be deployed, especially digital lending and services; serve as subject matter expert in technology-led models for digital transformation of FSPs; actively support organization change management initiatives, leveraging GLAS and other resources/assets as needed, to cascade transformation priorities and changes across client institutions.


Manage and successfully deliver multi-million dollar complex projects - develop integrated transformation projects – from conceptualization of the transformation plan based on the business and technology strategy through to ownership of implementation of the agreed transformation; ensure that programs deliver change through all areas of the business, not just IT – create impact evaluation framework and the monitoring mechanisms to track program outcomes and long-term goals; document and share project results (activities, findings, outputs, impact) and tools through a range of mediums such as learning and exchange forums, blogging, articles and/or case studies completed for internal learning and external sector-wide knowledge sharing purposes.


Position qualifications

  • 12+ years’ relevant experience through a combination of business, management and/or consulting/advisory services in financial services
  • Previous experience building and managing digital lending products in any key markets in the MEA region; ideally at a digital bank, fintech or other digital financial services institution
  • MBA or equivalent Master’s level degree required.
  • Demonstrated success working on B2C financial products and hands-on knowledge of two or more of the following: digital payments, supply chain financing platforms, electronic payments (issuance and acceptance), agent banking.
  • Strong analytical skills across strategy, finance, consumer adoption and especially new channels and technology, but must also have experience planning and implementing.
  • Entrepreneurial and commercially minded, highly creative, and able to innovate quickly 
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with a positive, can-do attitude and an approach of “no job is too small or big”.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (30-40%)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; other regional languages such as French or Arabic a bonus.
