Senior Director, Fundraising Strategic Planning & Insights

We are looking for someone who will work across the Resource Development department, and in collaboration with Accion’s Program teams to lead our fundraising strategic positioning and inform our partnership developments with the public and private sectors in alignment with Accion’s priorities. Collaborating closely across the department, this person will develop impact stories and materials to engage a broad spectrum of private and public sector partners and donors. This role will help plan and lead prospect research, market intelligence and insights, and all related asset development in support of partnership and fundraising strategy across Accion. Reporting to the Chief Development & Partnerships Officer, the Senior Director of Fundraising Strategic Planning and Insights will be instrumental in developing strategies to increase organization-wide revenue.

Accion’s Resource Development department has a solid track record of creative partnerships, strategic fundraising and proven results. We work across a broad base of corporate and private foundation partners including Mastercard, Credit Suisse, FMO, Bill and Melinda Gates, MetLife, and Citi Foundations. In addition, we work with individual impact investors, philanthropic donors and the public sector to carry out our important and increasingly urgent mission. Position responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership

  • Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, lead the fundraising strategic planning within Resource Development department, developing plans to position our work and impact.  
  • Lead market intelligence, trends anticipation and insights to inform our prospect pipeline development and create outreach and engagement strategies, to be tailored by industry segment and audience and in alignment with Accion’s programmatic and thought leadership priorities.
  • Monitor, manage, and support asset development and reporting for key partnerships


Pipeline Development

  • Oversee research efforts around uncovering new leads and building the pipeline of prospective funders
  • Engage program staff and senior management in efforts to build visibility
  • Working with Director of Research, prioritize prospects and support fundraising teams on outreach strategy
  • Working with Resource Development fundraising teams, identify new segments of potential partners and revenue generating opportunities


Thought Leadership

  • Ensure Accion fundraising efforts track to current trends of financial inclusion with key stakeholders and identify, share, and develop opportunities for engagement
  • Foster collaboration and build consensus across programs, communications, executive office, and resource development around developing key relationships to maximize fundraising and visibility opportunities



Position qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant Master’s degree preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the financial inclusion landscape and funding trends.
  • Proven ability to develop assets and develop powerful materials for fundraising and partner/prospect engagement in support of revenue generation.
  • Proven leader with sustained track record of quality results
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and communicate clearly to other departments and levels of the organization regarding Resource Development objectives, complex projects and departmental strategies.
  • Committed to and passionate about Accion’s mission and work globally.
  • Generally, 12+ years relevant experience, minimum 5 years of experience managing strategic relationships, writing grant proposals, and leading market insights and research
  • Working knowledge of Spanish
