The Director of Research and Prospect Segmentation will have a leading role in shaping the growth strategy for the Resource Development Department. In this position, you will work as part of a supportive and collaborative team to identify and research innovative donor segments. You will be the go-to source for prospect research and market trends as well as insights that are informed by data analysis. A key part of this role will be to work with our Board liaison on ways to optimally engage our board members and senior leadership networks.

Accion’s Resource Development department has a solid track record of creative partnerships, strategic fundraising and proven results. We work across a broad base of corporate and private foundation partners including Mastercard, Credit Suisse, FMO, Bill and Melinda Gates, MetLife, and Citi Foundations. In addition, we work with individual impact investors, philanthropic donors and the public sector to carry out our important and increasingly urgent mission. Position responsibilities

  • The Director will develop a research plan and prospect identification whilst working closely with fundraising teams
  • Working closely with the Senior Director and Chief Development and Partnerships Officer, the Director of Research will help shape growth strategy by supporting and providing insights into new donor segments
  • This position’s responsibilities will also include Board research and strategies to further engage board members and their networks

  

Position qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus five years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of research and data analytics skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and research needs while working with key internal. stakeholders across Resource Development and the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
  • Experienced at working with senior leadership.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience with global NGO and/or private sector organization in social impact space.
  • 3+ years’ experience in fundraising environment.
  • Experience with database management and various prospect research tools.
