Position Summary 

The Senior Director of Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) will develop, coordinate and implement an organization-wide impact measurement and management strategy. The impact measurement framework will serve both external and internal audiences. Accion’s departments will continue to have responsibility for their own specific IMM. The Senior Director will provide strategic leadership and direction-setting to these teams, along with coordination and support where needed. In this position the role requires excellent coordination skills and be comfortable working across regions and functions.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction-setting for organization-wide IMM, including initially through the development of an Accion IMM strategy.
  • Facilitate the identification and periodic review of an organization-wide Theory of Change and a corresponding central set of metrics.
  • Facilitate the development of technical notes for the central set of metrics to ensure consistent measurement, where relevant, across departments.
  • Coordinate the capture, management and reporting of data for the central metrics.
  • Design standards for, and provide written guidance and ongoing support on, other aspects of IMM such as data quality assurance, the collection of qualitative data and the application of deep dives, use of data for sense-making and learning within and across departments.
  • Facilitate an Accion IMM community of practice, building capacity where needed
  • Facilitate the application in Accion of relevant industry IMM benchmarks in Accion.
  • Support leadership and other colleagues to construct narratives to communicate to external audiences e.g., for resource development, marketing materials, executive speaking engagements, and other external facing events. 
  • Communicate to the Accion Board and key external audiences about Accion’s approach to IMM.
  • Keep up to date on the status of, and innovation in, IMM among peer organizations, including through dialogue.
  • Conduct or support negotiations with outside suppliers e.g., of data collection, data management tools, impact measurement quality assurance, deep dives and evaluations.
  • Report regularly to Accion senior management and to the board.
  • Develop and publish an annual Accion global impact report for an external audience.

  

Position Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant experience, including at least five years’ senior-level experience in IMM / monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  •  Demonstrated, broad knowledge of financial inclusion, preferably gained through work with one or more organizations that include financial inclusion or private sector development as a prime objective.
  • Experience in designing, developing as well as managing IMM / monitoring, evaluation and learning systems
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders for data collection, data verification, reporting and dissemination.
  • Good knowledge of IMM – including the measurement of social impact - for investments.
  • Experience of coaching/mentoring for IMM / monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in and across teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and preferably Spanish.
  • Confidence to advocate and engage with leadership, Board and influential external stakeholders for expanded IMM / monitoring, evaluation and learning
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., economics, business, international development); Master’s is preferred.
