About Resource Development

Accion’s Resource Development department has a solid track record of creative partnerships, strategic fundraising, and proven results. We work across a broad base of corporate and private foundation partners including Mastercard, Credit Suisse, FMO, Bill and Melinda Gates, MetLife, and Citi Foundations. In addition, we work with individual impact investors, philanthropic donors, and the public sector to carry out our important and increasingly urgent mission. Building on the existing strong base of supporters and partners, we aim to amplify our strategic partnership priorities.

   

Position Responsibilities

The Resource Development (RD) team is seeking a Graduate Intern for the fall with skills in social media and communications in order to amplify our visibility with the private sector and key partners. The Intern will work closely with the Resource Development team to refine our messaging on social media and develop targeted messaging for these stakeholders.

  • In partnership with the RD team, develop a plan for increasing our engagement and visibility with the private sector on platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Refine Accion’s social media messaging to target the private sector and key stakeholders
  • Follow and develop analyses of the social media activities and messaging of select partners, prospects and peer organizations
  • Supporting the RD team in updating our partnerships page and updates to our website
  • Work with the RD team to develop externally facing communications materials such as fact sheets

Working with Accion’s Resource Development team will provide a deeper understanding and first-hand exposure to Accion’s 60 years of institutional experience. The Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the team’s ability to engage external stakeholders and help create a meaningful presence on relevant social media platforms. The Intern will also work closely with a highly collaborative and creative team of partnerships experts who are passionate about working toward a more financially inclusive and interconnected world. This internship will provide knowledge and experience within a well-established and globally recognized nonprofit, with an innovative business model, and is an organization at the forefront of innovative financial services for underserved populations. 

  

Position Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant graduate degree program (communications, marketing, international relations, business management/MBA, non-profit management, economic development)
  • Experience with social media, especially LinkedIn, Twitter, and/or Instagram
  • Ability to create content for social media platforms to tell a compelling story
  • Project management
  • Proficient in editing and ability to synthesize information succinctly
  • Ability to clearly communicate visually and verbally to a variety of audiences (e.g., external, internal, and philanthropic).
  • Willingness to embody Accion’s values of Excellence, Respect and Passion for Social Change
  • Experience working with fundraising teams and in particular, knowledge of corporations and private foundations preferred 

Period of internship: October 2022-January 2023 (dates are flexible)
