Position Summary 

Accion’s Human Resources team is looking for a Director, Talent and Culture who is passionate about designing and implementing high quality learning and employee engagement programs that boost employee growth and cultivate a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive workforce. 

 

The Director plays a key role in strengthening a global culture of learning, engagement, and inclusion while ensuring that all learning and organizational effectiveness activities are strategically aligned with our mission and values. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing creative employee learning programs and engagement strategies to support organizational priorities. The Director also leads Accion’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Committee and has a unique opportunity to influence organizational culture and champion practices that make Accion a diverse, equitable and inclusive place to work.

 

This position reports to the Chief Talent Officer and is a key member of our Human Resources (HR) team.

   

Position Responsibilities 

Learning & Development

  • Design and implement learning and development programs to enhance employee skills and competencies.
  • Identify skill building and training needs and collaborate with department heads to ensure the development of tailored training solutions.
  • Facilitate leadership development programs to build a strong pipeline of future leaders.
  • Build manager competency and capability through learning programs and solutions.
  • Design and implement programs that promote employee career and professional development and increase overall effectiveness in individual roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop, implement, and support ongoing education and training programs aimed at strengthening inclusive behaviors and promoting equitable development opportunities for staff at all levels.
  • Design and facilitate workshops and/or key interventions for individual departments and employee groups as needed.
  • Establish and manage external partnerships that support talent development and organizational effectiveness such as workshop facilitators, executive coaches, consultants, and other key service providers.

Culture & Employee Engagement

  • Design and implement creative initiatives that strengthen workplace culture in a hybrid home/office environment.
  • Oversee global employee engagement initiatives including Accion’s annual employee engagement survey, organization – wide engagement focus groups, Learning@Accion Week, wellness program, and other targeted community activities.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction; track and obtain feedback to measure success.
  • Conduct surveys, analyze feedback, and propose action plans to address employee concerns.
  • Coach leaders and staff on best practices to help foster a company climate that respects and values diversity and inclusion by building engagement, continually developing an inclusive culture, and meeting the needs of varied abilities and learning approaches of employees.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Director will lead Accion’s DEI strategy and initiatives, including:

  • Serve as Accion DEI Advisory Committee lead, responsible for convening, updating, and obtaining feedback from the committee on a regular basis to ensure staff voice is integrated into our DEI strategy and practices.
  • Enhance and implement Accion’s DEI strategy by overseeing execution of the road map, developing short- and medium-term operating plans that advance long term objectives, and tracking KPIs on progress achieved.
  • Spearhead efforts to produce an organizational DEI dashboard of KPIs; oversee the collection of data, analyze outcomes against established targets, and modify strategies as necessary to achieve desired results; analyze the results of employee engagement surveys, conduct focus groups, and develop targeted action plans to address DEI related areas for improvement.
  • Craft org-wide DEI-related communications to inform and build staff awareness on our DEI strategy, goals, and progress per plan; present to all staff and senior leadership on Accion’s DEI work.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Talent Officer to ensure priorities align with diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies, including recruitment, career support and progression, policies, compensation, performance, leadership development, as well as employee engagement, retention, and belonging.
  • Establish and manage external partnerships that support DEI efforts such as training facilitators, consultants, and other key service providers; represent Accion in any external DEI related forums such as conferences and industry groups.
  • Identify and provide recommendations to leadership on ways to further embed DEI into Accion’s work and culture.

  

Candidate Qualifications and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Psychology, or Human Resources-related and 10+years’ experience; Advanced degree preferred in Training and Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, or another closely related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience specifically in Learning and Development and/or Training.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge and experience navigating the complexities of global diversity.
  • Subject matter expertise in DEI such as best practices and trends; passionate about translating new ideas into action.
  • High level of cultural and situational awareness and adaptability.
  • Experience leading or contributing to a comprehensive DEI strategy that aligns with the company's values and business objectives.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and instructional design experience.
  • Passionate above developing creative strategies to develop employees’ capabilities and strengthen organizational culture.
  • Ability to collaborate and partner effectively with key stakeholders on leadership and management issues.
  • Strong coaching and relationship management skills.
  • Professional maturity and a mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Superior project management skills, attention to detail and follow-through required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • English required; Spanish proficiency highly desired.

Travel Requirements

  • Eagerness to travel to Accion’s regional hubs in India and Colombia and for team and/or staff retreats; up to 10-15% travel required.
