Position Summary 

Accion Impact Management (AIM) is seeking a Senior Associate, ESG and Risk. The person in this role will play a critical role in advancing AIM’s commitment to responsible investing and sustainable finance. This position supports the development, implementation, and oversight of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies across investment portfolios and organizational operations. The role combines analytical rigor, strategic insight, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure ESG risks are identified, mitigated, and aligned with institutional goals.

Position Responsibilities 

 

ESG Research, Analysis and Reporting

  • Conduct analysis, reviews and research on some of the portfolio companies’ ESG practices, policies, and performance.
  • Participate in ESG due diligence, jointly with investment staff, in multiple markets.
  • Participate in the development of ESG action plans, together with investment staff.
  • Expected to grow quickly into leading ESG action plans.
  • Identify and assess material ESG risks and opportunities across investment portfolios. 
  • Support the development and implementation of ESG frameworks, metrics, and reporting mechanisms. 
  • Collaborate with investment teams to integrate ESG considerations into decision-making processes. 
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual ESG reports, including fund-level summaries and board updates. 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with portfolio companies to encourage ESG improvements through dialogue and shareholder resolutions. 
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Operations, Investor Relations) to ensure consistency in ESG messaging and reporting. 

Monitoring and Trends

  • Stay updated on ESG regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends. 
  • Track ESG performance indicators and contribute to impact assessments.

Fund Compliance and Risk Management

  • Assist AIM staff in developing and implementing AIM policies, procedures and controls, including reporting and risk registers.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to support the Risk Management Framework and Risk Register for AIM and its investment vehicles.
  • Closely coordinating with Investment staff, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to [facilitate/support] AIM meeting its obligations to LPs, portfolio companies, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

  

Position Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience, including 2-3 years of experience or exposure to ESG due diligence.
  • Understanding of ESG frameworks and sustainable finance principles.
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting tools.
  • Some experience in risk management and/or investment analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to embrace the entrepreneurial nature of a growing organization - comfortable with ambiguity, ready to jump wherever needed, and motivated by making meaningful contributions to a lean, fast-paced team.
  • Experience working in global and multicultural environments is a strong plus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $80K- $100K
  • The above salary range serves as a general guideline. Accion considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, training, skills, location, current market conditions as well as internal pay alignment.
  • AIM provides a total compensation package, including base salary, discretionary merit-based bonus, and a variety of benefits including health insurance (90% employer funded), life and disability insurance, retirement plans (up to 6% employer match), paid holidays and paid time-off for vacation plus personal days as well as sick days.
