Position Summary 

CFI is looking for a Communications Specialist who will help shape and implement CFI’s communications strategies and support outreach and engagement through our publications and convenings. This position will play a key role in managing digital channels, supporting event management and operations, as well as creating and disseminating engaging content to drive awareness of CFI publications and research insights.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. 

   

Position Responsibilities 

 

  • Write and edit communications, including web copy, newsletters, blogs, social media copy, and other collateral to support CFI publications, convenings, and other initiatives
  • Create digital graphics and other collateral for CFI’s website, events, and speaking engagements
  • Manage the production of in-house videos and provide design support for all internal and external presentations
  • Collaborate with designers and consultants to ensure content aligns with CFI visual identity
  • Ensure management of CFI assets through Sharepoint to ensure all team members have access to updated templates, logos, photography, videos, etc.
  • Manage CFI’s social media calendar, build promotional toolkits, and design creative content to drive social media engagement
  • Manage CFI’s website by ensuring all content is up to date; draft website copy, and liaise with developers for enhancements and troubleshooting
  • Drive internal project execution and proactively assist with the organization and execution of external events such as the Responsible Finance Forum, Financial Inclusion Week, webinars, workshops and other engagements
  • Support with the coordination of virtual and in-person meetings and events, including marketing promotions, speaker coordination, registration, and basic IT support
  • Support the Senior Communications Director in managing ongoing projects and executing external and internal communications and strategies
  • Regularly monitor, analyze and report on team KPIs and suggest improvements to drive impact.
  • Other duties to be assigned as appropriate.

  

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4- 5 years’ experience in communications roles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrable success distilling complex issues into easily shareable content, leveraging a wide range of tools, including AI (Copilot, Chat GPT, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of digital analytics and reporting, including Google Analytics
  • Skilled at conceptualizing and designing snapshot visuals that support digital engagement with CFI content, using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with content management systems, preferably Wordpress
  • Proactive team player with a positive, can-do attitude and attention to detail
  • Mission-driven with demonstrated interest in international development
  • This job may require travel on an occasional basis (<10%)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $62K to $68K
  • The above salary range serves as a general guideline. Accion considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, training, skills, location, current market conditions as well as internal pay alignment.
  • Accion provides a total compensation package, including base salary, discretionary merit-based bonus, and a variety of benefits including health insurance (90% employer funded), life and disability insurance, retirement plans (up to 7.5% employer match), paid holidays and paid time-off for vacation plus personal days as well as sick days.
