Position Summary 

Reporting to Senior Accounting Specialist, the Accounting Professional is responsible for maintaining all daily, monthly journal entries and month-end reconciliations, accounts payable and expenses for Accion’s Latin America, “Centro”, affiliate. She/he will also work closely with the Finance team and provide support on audit requests, monthly tax processes, and month-end closing expenses.  In addition, she will be support/backup for Accion International processing Accounts payable and Expense reports.

   

Position Responsibilities

  • Local Purchase Order Processing (NetSuite): Initiate and manage local POs, monitor approval workflows, and secure final approvals prior to Accounts Payable (AP) processing.
  • Accounts Payable (AP) Processing: Responsible for Centro AP processing and serving as the primary AP backup for Accion International. This includes ensuring accurate invoice entry in NetSuite, coordinating weekly payments, and maintaining full adherence to corporate financial policies.
  • Monthly Vendor Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations between DIAN electronic invoice reports and all vendor invoices processed during the period.
  • FOREX Negotiations & Compliance: Prepare and process foreign-exchange (FOREX) documentation for USD receipts and disbursements in line with local regulatory requirements; complete monthly reconciliations of related tax GL accounts and prepare vendor tax certificates.
  • Cash Receipt/Disbursement Support: Manage cash receipts and disbursements tied to FOREX processes, including the preparation of bank forms and recording corresponding entries in the local books.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Maintain and update the fixed-asset register and depreciation schedules; collaborate with IT on asset additions, disposals, and write-offs; and perform monthly fixed asset reconciliations.
  • Insurance Coordination: Serve as the point of contact for fixed-asset insurance coverage, ensuring timely communication of additions, deletions, and adjustments to asset coverage.
  • Annual Inventory Support: Partner with IT and accounting to support the annual inventory review and ensure alignment between physical inventory and financial records.
  • Tax Calculation Support: Assist in monthly and annual tax calculations, prepare reconciliations for tax-related GL accounts, and compile supporting documentation for the Senior Accounting Specialist.
  • Employee Expense Reimbursements: Manage expense reimbursements for Centro and other subsidiaries; ensure compliance with travel and expense policies, review supporting documents, and process weekly reimbursements promptly.
  • Other duties assigned include support for cross-functional initiatives and additional accounting responsibilities as the organization evolves.

  

Position Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or student ultimate semesters
  • Proficient in English language skills (verbal and written) and interest to develop/acquire business English.
  • Minimum of 3- 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, taxes and organizational procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of accounting packages and software (NetSuite as a plus).
  • Excellent computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, time management and ability to adapt to changes.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Eager to learn and grow in various functions of an accounting department.
