Position Summary

Accion is establishing a dedicated Events Team within its Marketing and Communications Department to help elevate the delivery, strategic value, and consistency of events across the organization. Accion and the Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI) organize a substantial calendar of events including flagship convenings such as the Harvard Business School (HBS)-Accion Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance, Financial Inclusion Week, the Responsible Finance Forum, and the Accion Ventures CEO Forum and Fintech for Inclusion Summit, as well as smaller standalone gatherings anchored to key industry events and internal meetings around the world. Events have historically been managed on a decentralized basis, and Accion is now investing in a centralized events function to support subject matter staff to deliver quality experiences that strengthen Accion’s brand and relationship building.

The Events Specialist is a foundational member of the newly formed Events Team, reporting to the Senior Director, Events. This role is responsible for the detailed operational and administrative execution that makes each Accion and CFI event run smoothly from managing event platforms and vendor contracts to maintaining the team’s events and speaker databases. • Maintain and continuously update the Events Team’s central events database, with particular attention to recurring events, historical event data, and venue information.

  • Draft and coordinate event invitations, messaging, and program materials in line with Accion’s brand guidelines, in partnership with the Communications Team and Department Leads.
  • Manage and track event registration and payments, including customer support and fielding event-related inquiries, with particular attention to programs that may require multi-step payments and international visas.
  • Manage contracting and logistics for event spaces, vendors, travel and accommodation, including sourcing and processing agreements in line with event budgets.
  • Own and maintain the speaker database, tracking past and prospective speakers and supporting Department Leads in identifying and securing speakers for upcoming events.
  • Organize post-event feedback loops, including distribution and collection of speaker and audience evaluations, and compilation of results for the Events Team and Department Leads.
  • Support the Senior Director, Events and Department Leads with logistics coordination during the planning and budgeting phase of each event, helping to ensure dates, resources, and vendor commitments are secured on time, and coordinating internally to ensure contracts are executed in a timely fashion.
  • Provide on-the-ground and remote logistical support during event delivery, including vendor liaison, speaker coordination, and troubleshooting day-of issues.
  • Support distribution of post-event follow-up communications and assist with organization and archiving of event assets.
  • Assist with tracking event budgets and expenses.

    • Passion for Social Change: Accion staff should be committed to making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, value the greater good of the organization over personal gain, and promote a productive workplace by acknowledging the accomplishments of others.
